Our Story

1916-1924
  • Prohibition – bootleggers left a legacy of rum running in Crowsnest Pass
May 24, 1924
  • Liquor Control Act ended Prohibition and all liquor sales were administered by the ALCB
September 2, 1993
  • The Alberta government announced the privatization of the Alberta liquor industry
December 8, 1993
  • Two coal-mining brothers– Adrian and Beric Fabro – took possession of the former ALCB store located in downtown Coleman, Alberta.  Adrian and Beric.  A and B.  Thus began the story of this family business called A&B Liquor Store.

The very first Christmas for A&B was a busy one, but with the help of family and friends, they managed to pull it off.  A common refrain back then was, “A & B Liquor Store – shop in Coleman, not Blairmore!”
November 21, 2003
  • Ten years after privatization, A&B Liquor Store moved to its current location at Crowsnest Crossing in Blairmore.  Welcoming friends from the Coleman store and new customers alike, A&B continues to be a successful family affair.
Staff
A&B Liquor Store started with two brothers and their family and friends. Since then, the A&B “family” has grown to include so many people, it’s hard to keep track of them all! If there’s one thing we take great pride in, it’s the people that work here. Without them, we’d be nothing and with them, we can move mountains… of beer, that is! If you’d like to be part of our team, drop us a line and we’ll let you know when we’re hiring.

Community Spirit
At A&B Liquor Store, we ♥ CNP and we love to give back to our community. Over the years we’ve participated in the Relay for Life, worked with the high school SADD group, sponsored the Crowsnest Walking Trails and supported many local groups and events. Check out our links for a list of some of the many groups and events we support.
